Lambretta.ca – Scooter Weblog

Brought my engine to my buddy’s (Niall’s) place to start work on it.  He is a pro at engine work, so he’ll be helping me out with another scooterist (Chris).  These are a few pics of the engine on the workbench.  One thing that we took care of today was a replacement gear cover plate with the one I currently had, the guy I originally bought the scooter from 14 years ago had the wrong plate.  The fit was never right, and as a result the gears never turned smoothly.  The plate was bought a little while ago, now it can finally go in.

The 3rd pic is my buddy’s engine.  Lambretta brothers separated by birth, we just need to get Chris’s engine over here and perhaps do some porting work on his! Whoo hoo.  A very fun evening both productive and had a chance to talk about the past rallies.

I have started gathering together the parts to bring to my buddy’s place this Sunday, to sort out what  is useful.   

The plan in a nutshell.

1. Work on Engine, Work on Body, Assembly
2. Kick  it over.
3. Ride.

Many steps involved to re-build a scooter.  This is my 3rd re-build, so I know that anything can happen.  However, it’s been six years since this scoot last kicked over.   Did I mentioned I had a one kick start up?  I was always proud of that.

First things first, now where are all those parts??

Hey,

I was/am a scooterist? This blog is an attempt to document the build of my Lambretta (eibar) Li 150, or rather the journey. It is now March 16th, 2009. We will see if a blog will encourage me to get off my ass and get this project going. I have a new daughter which probably makes it tougher to find time… am I making excuses already???

Currently my scoot is all over the place. I planned to rebuild from the ground up seven years ago… It was probably a bad call to take apart a full running scooter in the first place!!!!!!
